Pico de Gallo

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, jalapeño peppers, and cilantro.
  2. Add Lime and Seasoning:
    • Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss everything together to combine.
  3. Taste and Adjust:
    • Taste the pico de gallo and adjust the salt, lime juice, or jalapeño level according to your preference.
  4. Chill and Serve:
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve fresh as a topping or dip.
