Best Egg Rolls Recipe
Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 1 lb ground pork (or chicken/shrimp)
- 2 cups coleslaw mix (or shredded cabbage & carrots)
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For the Wrapping & Frying:
- 12-15 egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil)
For Serving:
- Sweet and sour sauce
- Soy sauce
- Spicy mustard
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground pork until no longer pink.
- Add garlic, ginger, cabbage mix, and green onions. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook until vegetables soften.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper in a diamond shape.
- Place 2 tablespoons of filling in the center.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly.
- Brush the top corner with beaten egg to seal.
- Fry the Egg Rolls:
- Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve & Enjoy:
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!
Baking or Air-Frying Option:
- Bake: Brush with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Air-Fry: Spray with oil and air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway.
