Sliced Baked Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Scrub the potatoes thoroughly and dry them with a paper towel.
    • Slice the potatoes thinly, about 1/4-inch thick, leaving the skin on.
  3. Season the Potatoes:
    • Place the potato slices in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat.
    • Sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss again to ensure all slices are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  4. Arrange on a Baking Sheet:
    • Arrange the seasoned potato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the Potatoes:
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the potato slices halfway through cooking. The potatoes should be crispy on the edges and tender inside when pierced with a fork.
  6. Optional Cheese Topping:
    • If adding cheese, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the potatoes during the last 5 minutes of baking, allowing it to melt and bubble.
  7. Serve:
    • Once baked, remove the potatoes from the oven and serve with sour cream, fresh chives, or green onions, if desired.
